Home page updated with Buzzys flyer, and some new welcome text. I also posted an accommodations link. Apparently a local bed and breakfast contacted Dan, and has found an interest in our club, and wanted to be posted on our site. I think this is very cool stuff. She may be doing a discount for DG'ers, which is great for travellers and tournys, and will also be posting disc golf info on her site as a local attraction! Way way cool. Ads may be coming soon.... yar. 8-)

Hey Jbyrd,

her's a google map that has all 3 the skyland's courses on it with marked by the 1st tee. I don't know if there's a place for it on the site but i thought i'd throw it out there.

Code:
<iframe></iframe><br><small><a href="http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&amp;gl=us&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;oe=UTF8&amp;msa=0&amp;msid=103002449977908976923.0004625ea945be3f3762a&amp;ll=41.177504,-74.291636&amp;spn=0.361773,0.583649&amp;z=10&amp;source=embed">View Larger Map</a></small>

Who made the map for Wolfe Woods and what program was used? Are any of the other courses done like this already?

All the courses have maps now, but they are all different formats. Adam gave me this map, maybe Scoontar did it? Its the best of the bunch. I'm also not sure what program was used...

I would like to see all the course maps done like the Wolfe map

That is a cool map but it needs some revisions. There has been a few changes to the course.

I posted this on the course discussion string a while back, maybe it can be used.
http://www.nynjdiscgolf.com/new_site/courses/wolfe/Wolfe_Woods.jpg

Also just made this one for possible use.
http://www.nynjdiscgolf.com/new_site/courses/wolfe/WarwickBrakewellWolfeWoods2009.jpg

Anyone wanna make a map out of it? I dont know the course well enough to do it.

Posted the Gaw Monthly flyer the other day onthe home page and tourney page.
I was "missing in action" for a spell thar... from a not so friendly brown spider, but that lil 8 legged bastard didnt stop this ol peg legged irate pirate...

Dan Doyle suggested a while back that we post full "walk thru" photos of each hole on each course. Tee, approach, and putt shots for each hole. It would be easier to post the photos on a photo site so they dont eat up all our server space. Bandremer did a nice shoot and sent me the link, I just havent gotten around to tying it in. I'll get to it.

Any other suggestions fellow DG sailors :?:

Nice pic of the toys from the Buzzy's triple dubs on the front page! That's great, and a very cool thing to bring to the attention of anyone looking on the website that Roach made that happen-and that Mrs. Roach suggested!!

I was looking at the worlds 2011 Rochester NY site, its totally rocks.

http://grdgc.org/community/index.php

its also a web house that created the site, and nicely done. the one thing I thought was way cool was the course goggle maps, with tee pix.

and the fact that the bulletin board was still apart of the overall main site page. question is do we want the bulletin board on the main site. JDB set up to be separate, and we may want to keep it that way, BUT. having the " traffic" in the main site can add to possible advertisements, that could generate course funds. I dont know the cash we could get for ads yet, that depends on site traffic, hence put the traffic on the main site.

Its a decision that needs thought. whats your input DG crew?

I say leave it as it is. Yes, more people would then see ads on our main page, but the problem with that is we'd ALL have to see those ads, every time we're on this forum. I get sick of having to deal with ads.

Hey All, so I'm working in cahoots with jbyrd on some website ideas and I'm looking for images particularly of the Skylands logo (hopefully high(er) resolution). I also want good club disc golf pictures, hopefully some with baskets in them and taken in the summer. Please email anything you may have that I can use, renegaderacoon@aim.com. I have all the 2010 Animalfest pics that Cuts posted so please don't email me those.

Also, I'm trying to snag up yahoo/gmail/youtube/etc. accounts for Skylands as a way to "reserve" them for our use if we choose to use them. Does someone from the club own nynjdiscgolf @ gmail.com? I tried to register it but its already taken. I want to open a youtube/flickr/twitter account for the club to have a solid web presence but I need to know what name the club would want.

The three options I see are: nynjdiscgolf or SkylandsFlyingDiscClub or SkylandsDiscGolf or something else?

So there is no confusion the website domain will definitely stay as nynjdiscgolf. Just thinking of what we can call our youtube or twitter accounts to keep everything unified. Twitter may seem lame or overkill but if you tweet out some updates every once in a while and tag discgolf it really can generate a lot of traffic to a site.

Thanks!

Correction, thats Alex Hall and JByrd my friend. And thanks for the thanks.

Alex took the incentive on this and the majority of the work was done by him. Im very glad to have someone sharing this task.

We plan on making the Skylands DG site one of the best out there.

Thanks Cuts, I'm working towards finally getting the banner to fade in and out to multiple pictures (IE a slideshow kinda thing). Currently the template we use doesnt support this function so Im looking at ways to implement. Also I updated the banner with a great shot that Rev sent me eons ago of Buzzys 12, Had to scrunch it a bit to make it fit, the timing of this photo rocks with the red disc just about in the chains... nice Job Rev.

Hey guys, I do web programming/development so if you need anything or want me to help with the website load let me know. (I use php, html, mysql and other web stuff)

one example:
I could make signup forms for tournaments that are integrated with paypal and store the players info in the sites database, which would then be exported as a spreadsheet. This might be helpful for TDs in the future.

Hey Evan, thats a great offer, and I may take you up on it. Thank You for offering! There are a few things that Id like to get done but simply dont have the time to do. Alex and I are moving the site to another hosting company this weekend, so after thats completed lets talk about improvements. I have a few in mind besides your good suggestion. Thanks again! I'll be in touch.

All,
Alex and I setup the site on a new server, you should see some performance improvements across the site and chatboards.
Our prior site was reaching its limits, the new site has unlimited space.

Hey all. Just a heads up there is going to be some website maintenance happening sometime in the next few days and the website may be down for a bit. We'll try to keep downtime minimal.
